Fall Flavors Take the Stage!

November 04, 2025

πŸ‚Hi there, Tiny Chefs family and friends!

When it comes to the different seasons, the food we typically make in the fall is full of some of our favorite colors and flavors. The warm colors like orange, red, yellow, and even earthy browns bring the promise of some delicious treats like pumpkin pie, fried apples, snickerdoodles, and many others. Here at Tiny Chefs, we want to celebrate these flavors with you!

Try out this fun activity with your tiny chef to get them excited about fall!

Create Your Own Fall Flavor Rainbow 🌈

When you think of the rainbow, what first comes to mind? Is it rain? The calm after a storm? Or simply the colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet?

I’ll tell you what Tiny Chefs thinks of: flavor! πŸ… Red tomatoes, 🍊oranges, 🍌 yellow bananas, πŸ₯¦ green broccoli, 🫐 blueberries, πŸ‡violet grapes, and so much more! Having a colorful plate of food can be not only a great way to fuel your body, but it can bring you a plethora of amazing flavors to enjoy.

Because it is fall, we thought your tiny chefs might enjoy an activity that gives them the opportunity to explore the fall flavors; let’s create our own fall flavor rainbow! This is a great activity for parties or just to do at home with family.

First, you will need to choose a fall flavor to match with 6 different colors (because a rainbow always has 6 colors!). You can choose any fall flavors you like. Here are some examples:

  • Apples

  • Pumpkins

  • Cinnamon

  • Maple

  • Cranberries

  • Butternut Squash

πŸ₯§Once you have all of the flavors of your fall rainbow, it’s time to gather up your samples! You can buy treats from the store or if you’re feeling extra froggy, find a recipe and make your own! Then, you can arrange a colorful tasting table or several small stations, each showcasing one seasonal flavor. Once your stations are all set up,

  1. Start at the Pumpkin Station – Kids can try mini pumpkin muffins, pumpkin dip with graham crackers, or roasted pumpkin seeds.
β†’ Have your tiny chef describe the taste and color!

  2. Move to the Apple Station – Taste apple slices with cinnamon sugar, apple chips, or warm applesauce.
β†’ Ask them if it tastes sweet or tart!

  3. Next, the Cinnamon Stop – Smell cinnamon sticks, sprinkle cinnamon on popcorn or toast, or try a bite of a snickerdoodle cookie.
β†’ Encourage them to describe the scent β€” warm, spicy, and cozy!

  4. Visit the Maple Station – Sample a drizzle of maple syrup on a mini pancake bite or pretzel twist.
β†’ Kids can talk about how smooth, golden, and sweet it tastes.

  5. Head to the Cranberry Corner – Taste dried cranberries, cranberry sauce, or cranberry oatmeal bites.
β†’ They’ll notice how tangy and colorful this one is!

  6. Finish at the Butternut Squash Stop – Offer a small taste of roasted butternut squash cubes, butternut squash soup, or mashed squash with a touch of cinnamon.
β†’ Ask them how it feels β€” creamy, earthy, and a little sweet.

After they’re done tasting at each flavor station, ask them which flavor of the fall rainbow was their favorite. You can even have them color a rainbow using the colors of the flavors they chose.

By the end, the table will look like a harvest of colors and scents, and kids will have explored fall through multiple senses β€” seeing, smelling, touching, and tasting the season’s most delicious flavors! πŸ‚βœ¨
